What Otis collects and why
You need an account to use Otis: registration lets us provide your account, saved profile, journal, chats, memory, and subscription features.
- Account: your email address and sign-in details. On iPhone you sign in with email and password; Google sign-in is only offered where it is available on the web.
- Trader profile and memory: the rules, risk limits, setups and preferences you enter, plus continuity and insight notes Otis derives automatically from your chats and journal so later conversations can pick up where you left off. You can view and delete saved memory items in the app.
- Text chats and chart images: your messages, Otis's replies and the chart screenshots you upload, stored privately against your account.
- Dictation: if you use the microphone in Chat, you record a short clip of up to 30 seconds, which is submitted to OpenAI's transcription service (/audio/transcriptions) and turned into editable text in your message box. Otis does not store the recording, and the text is saved only if you send the message. Live voice calls and spoken replies are not available. Any chat or transcript content you previously saved is kept with your account chats and is removed through the same deletion controls as your other chats.
- Journal and reflections: trades imported from MetaTrader 5 (instrument, times, sizes, prices, profit/loss), account balance/equity snapshots, and the reflections you record.
- Behavioural insights: patterns calculated from your own journal and reflections.
- Subscription: your subscription status, linked to your Otis account ID, from Apple and RevenueCat. Otis does not receive your card details.
Where your data is stored
Otis runs on Lovable Cloud, which stores app account and database data; this project's database is located in Europe (Ireland). Chart uploads are kept in private storage. This location does not apply to every service provider Otis uses — see the next section.
Service providers we share data with
- OpenAI — processes your messages, chart images and relevant profile/journal context to generate Otis's responses, and your dictation recordings to transcribe them into text.
- MetaApi — if you link MT5, your broker server, account number and investor (read-only) password are sent to MetaApi to create a read-only connection that fetches your trade history. No trade execution is possible through Otis.
- Apple and RevenueCat — receive your account ID and purchase/status data to process subscriptions. Otis does not receive your card details.
- Lovable Cloud — stores your account and app data (see above).
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google" where it is offered on the web.
Analytics tracking is disabled in Otis, and no advertising tools were identified. Otis does not sell your data.
Why we process your data
- To provide the service you asked for: running your account, journal, chats, the AI and MT5 features you request, and your subscription.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and keeping minimal provider-cleanup records so a partly set up MT5 connection can be found and removed.
- Legal obligations: where applicable to us.
The microphone is optional: it is a device permission controlled by your operating system, and you can decline it and type instead.
Otis does not execute investments and does not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects — you decide your own trading actions.
Keeping and deleting data
While your account is active, we keep your profile, journal, chats, memory and uploads until you delete them.
You can delete individual chat conversations, saved memory items and journal chart images in the app, and unlink your MT5 account (which removes the read-only connection at MetaApi).
You can delete your whole account in the app under Profile > Account > Delete account. A successful deletion removes your live Otis data, uploads and sign-in. If removing an MT5 connection at the provider fails, deletion can remain incomplete and the app reports an error so you can try again — removal is not instantaneous in every case.
If an earlier MT5 cloud connection setup was still unresolved when you deleted your account, Otis keeps only the minimal identifiers needed to find and remove that exact connection at MetaApi (your MT5 account number, broker server and an internal connection name — never your password) until that exact connection has been reconciled and removed. No fixed deadline is promised for this reconciliation.
Your Apple subscription is managed separately: deleting your Otis account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel that in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Provider retention
The providers Otis uses keep their own records under their own policies. These are provider records, not continued active Otis account data.
- Lovable: documented daily database backups are retained for roughly 14 days; deleted database data may remain in those snapshots until they expire. This does not cover all files or logs, and no universal backup or log purge deadline is promised.
- OpenAI: per OpenAI's documentation, the audio/transcriptions endpoint has no retention for abuse monitoring or application state; chat API content subject to abuse monitoring may be retained up to 30 days, and longer where required for legal or security exceptions.
- Apple and RevenueCat: subscription and transaction records are not erased or cancelled merely by deleting your Otis account; legal, accounting, security and dispute records may remain.
- MetaApi: removing a terminal does not guarantee immediate erasure of all of MetaApi's logs or backups; its policy permits certain account data backups up to a year after deactivation, subject to law.
Other provider records and logs follow their own retention duties and policies. There is no blanket 30-day deletion promise across all providers.
Your rights
Contact us at hello@otismobile.com to exercise your rights to access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability, where applicable. We may need to check your identity before acting on a request. UK requests are normally answered within one month, with any lawful extension explained. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint) or your relevant local authority.
International processing
Some providers Otis uses may process data outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, it relies on the contractual safeguards applicable to that provider. You can read more in each provider's own policy:
